Top beaches in the Caribbean side of Costa Rica

Costa Rica has many beautiful beaches. The province of Guanacaste is widely know as the place to go to find wonderful beaches and a lot of adventure. However, Limon Province also has some great beaches worth visiting.

Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is located also in the Province of Limon, south of Cahuita. It is truly a Caribbean town with few options for restaurants and little stores. Punta Cocles Beach is very close, walking distance. The town also offers many hotels and cabins, mostly with a Caribbean architecture and very lay back. It is a great place for surfing and anjoying the beach and the surroundings by renting old bikes ans moving around.

Cahuita is a relaxing paradise located 43 km south of Puerto Limon. Its beaches are ideal for swimming and snorkeling (during dry season) in fabulous coral reefs close to shore, especially since it has one of the country most beautiful national parks: Cahuita National Park. Monkeys, lizards, and birds among many other animals are present at all times in the beautiful rainforest. It also has two sunken ships to explore while snorkeling.

Manzanillo
is a tiny town located south of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. it is known by its calm waters, lay back environment and light brown sand. There is a great Caribbean restaurant called Maxi whihch sells true tropical food. It is also known by the prescense of the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wild Life Refugee.
